A big community clean-up of Tasman Bay beaches and other coastal areas between Tonga Island and Cable Bay (approximately 50 beaches) is planned for Seaweek 2017.
You're invited to join as an individual, or encourage your business, sports or community group to get involved. It's the biggest community conservation project in the region.
It will be run by DOC, in partnership with Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council and Nelmac. In 2014 over 350 volunteers collected 3.93 tonnes of rubbish from approximately 300 km of beach.
Date and Time
It will be held on Saturday 4 March 2017, with a wet weather back-up of the following day, Sunday 5 March.
You can start as early as you like but note that rubbish collection points are only open between 9:00 am and 1.30 pm.
