Lake Rotorangi at Patea Dam Campground

Lake Rotorangi is an artificial lake that was formed due to the construction and operation of the Patea Hydroelectric Dam. The lake is a modification of the Patea River, and is a popular place for water sports including water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking and swimming.

Please note that water quality can change depending on weather. Don't swim if the water is murky or smells unpleasant. Taranaki Regional Council advises not to swim within three days of heavy or prolonged rainfall, even at sites that usually have good water quality.
