This score is an indicator of health that is based on the estuary macrofauna community. The score is calculated using a Mud Benthic Health Model. Information on the types and numbers of macrofauna species present at a monitoring site are summarised into a continuous score, which is compared against guidelines that tell us if there has been ‘very low impact’, ‘low impact’, ‘moderate impact’, ‘high impact’ or ‘very high impact’ from mud.
