Toxic Algae: Warning in place for Waipoua River at Colombo Rd Bridge

There is currently a red alert toxic algae warning in place at Waipoua River at Colombo Rd Bridge due to high levels of toxic algae being observed.

 

We recommend no swimming and keeping dogs away from this part of the river until further notice. Toxic algae represents a very real risk to human and animal health. 

 

If you have been in contact with toxic algae and are feeling unwell ring Healthline 0800 611 116. If you think your dog has swallowed toxic algae, take it to the nearest vet IMMEDIATELY.
