A buildup of bright orange sediment has discharged from a mine shaft entrance, down a steep drop and into a stream that feeds into the Ohinemuri River near the Karangahake Gorge car park.
We know there is more sediment to come down into the river and will be for some time. We advise against any contact with any discoloured water or orange coloured sediment.
