Stony Bay Creek

Stony Bay Creek originates in the steep hills west of Stony Bay. The monitoring sites are situated on tributaries which join the creek near the Stony Bay Campsite, before flowing into the bay. Both tributaries are characterised by surrounding indigenous forest with large boulders and cobbles providing instream habitat. The much wider Stony Stream is less shaded than its tributary, leading to abundant algae on rocks. Native freshwater fish and invertebrates are abundant in the stream.
