Waihi

Waihi is 65 kilometres northeast of Hamilton. There was previously a monitoring station on Grey Street.

Air quality was monitored in Waihi at the residential monitoring site on Grey Street from January 2008 to March 2012, when the station was disestablished. A sequential partisol 2025i was used for daily monitoring of PM10.

During period monitored, PM10 concentrations were well below the daily guidelines. The main source of poor air quality during winter is home heating. Contributions from fugitive emissions from the Martha Mine pit are reducing over time due to a gradual reduction in activities from this source.
