Turangi

Turangi is at the southern end of Lake Taupō. It has an inactive monitoring site at the fire station.

Air quality was monitored in Turangi at the residential monitoring site located at the Turangi Fire Station on Ohuanga Road from March 2009 to October 2018. PM10 was measured using an FH 62 BAM.

No PM10 exceedances have been recorded in Turangi during the monitoring period. PM10 concentrations peak on winter evenings during cold, calm conditions. The main source of poor air quality is home heating using wood. Due to its location within the Taupo Volcanic zone, at times volcanic/geothermal activity has been identified as contributing to PM10 concentrations.
