Putaruru

Putaruru is 65km southeast of Hamilton on State Highway 1. It has one monitoring site, on Arapuni Street.

Putaruru’s active residential PM10 monitoring site at the bowling club on Arapuni Street was established in July 2006. Concentrations of PM10 measured using an FH 62 BAM are gravimetrically adjusted based on co-located sequential partisol monitoring.

PM10 exceedances have occurred from time to time and the Putururu airshed is currently not classified as polluted under the National Environmental Standards. From 1 September 2016 Putaruru must have no more than one PM10 exceedance per 12 month period. The main source of poor air quality during winter is from home heating using wood.
