NPDC wastewater overflow - no kai collection (28 days)

Please be informed that there has been an overflow from the NPDC wastewater system into the Tasman Sea via the Eliot Street outfall that has the potential to affect public health.

The discharge started on Sunday 6 April at 1704 hours and stopped 56 minutes later at 1800 hours.  The cause of the discharge was due to high and intense rainfall overwhelming our Te Henui Pump Station during an adverse weather event.

Signs have been erected at East End Beach, the Te Henui Stream mouth, Coastal Walkway below Bunnings, Huatoki Stream mouth, and Kawaroa Park.

It is recommended that there is no kai collection / food gathering until 04 May 2025.
