Kawarau Arm at Bannockburn Bridge

The Kawarau Arm of Lake Dunstan is surrounded by a landscape of mountains, terraces, vineyards and orchards. The Kawarau Arm has a distinctive sediment-laden river flow which mixes with the clear blue waters of the Clutha Arm of Lake Dunstan which is fed by the lake-sourced Clutha River/Mata-Au.

Picnicking and swimming are popular in the lower Kawarau Arm near the Junction and the Bannockburn Inlet. The popular Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail crosses the Bannockburn Bridge and follows along the top of the lake edge terrace on the true right back of the Kawarau Arm.
