Kahutara River At SH1
The Kahutara River is a hill fed river in the Kaikoura zone. This site is located in the lower reaches below SH1 at Peketa Beach where the river forms a lagoon at the Kaikoura coast.
This site is monitored for recreational water quality during the summer months only.
This site is popular for a number of recreational activities including swimming and fishing in both the lagoon and the sea, and walking along the river and beach.
