Waipapa
The Waipapa River extends from the Kaimai Ranges to the Waipapa Estuary on the western side of Tauranga Harbour. The Waipapa catchment covers 45.2 sq km of which over half is pastoral and one quarter is indigenous forest. The catchment geology is mainly Waiteariki ignimbrite with recent river deposits in the extreme lower catchment surrounding some older river terraces.
Water quality monitoring occurs at the Old Highway Bridge and the River is showing a reduction in nutrient levels over time.
