St Leonards Bayis a great spot to visit if you are looking to escape the crowds.
The site can be accessed via St Leonards Road and a staircase down to the beach. It is best to visit the site at low tide, as there is limited beach at high tide.
Avoid standing or sitting too close to the cliffs, as rocks may fall unexpectedly. Be aware of your limits if you enter the water, and always swim with a friend.
Waves may increase in size and currents may strengthen during strong northeast winds, so if you're not a competent swimmer, swim between the red and yellow flags at nearby Takapuna Beach or Mairangi Bay
